Genetically modified organisms may only be handled in such a way that they, their metabolic products or wastes: cannot endanger human beings, animals or the environment; do not harm biological diversity or the sustainable use thereof (a). Genetically modified organisms may be put into circulation only if the Confederation has granted authorisation (b). Any person who markets genetically modified organisms must inform the recipient of the nature of the organisms through an easily recognisable label, with the note «genetically modified» (c).

Gli organismi geneticamente modificati possono essere utilizzati soltanto in modo che essi, i loro metaboliti e i loro rifiuti: non possano mettere in pericolo l’uomo, la fauna o l’ambiente; non pregiudichino la diversità biologica e la sua utilizzazione sostenibile (a). La messa in commercio di organismi geneticamente modificati è subordinata all’autorizzazione della Confederazione (b). Chi mette in commercio organismi geneticamente modificati deve informare gli acquirenti, per mezzo della dicitura «geneticamente modificato» ben visibile, che si tratta di tali organismi (c).

Mit gentechnisch veränderten Organismen darf nur so umgegangen werden, dass sie, ihre Stoffwechselprodukte oder ihre Abfälle: den Menschen, die Tiere oder die Umwelt nicht gefährden können; die biologische Vielfalt und deren nachhaltige Nutzung nicht beeinträchtigen (a). Gentechnisch veränderte Organismen dürfen nur mit einer Bewilligung des Bundes in Verkehr gebracht werden (b). Wer gentechnisch veränderte Organismen in Verkehr bringt, muss diese für die Abnehmerin oder den Abnehmer gut wahrnehmbar mit dem Hinweis «gentechnisch verändert» oder «genetisch verändert» kennzeichnen (c).

Quiconque utilise des organismes génétiquement modifiés doit veiller à ce que ces organismes, leurs métabolites et leurs déchets: ne puissent mettre en danger l’être humain, les animaux ou l’environnement; ne portent pas atteinte à la diversité biologique ni à l’utilisation durable de ses éléments (a). Toute mise en circulation d’organismes génétiquement modifiés est soumise à l’autorisation de la Confédération (b). Quiconque met en circulation des organismes génétiquement modifiés est tenu de les désigner de façon bien visible pour l’acquéreur par l’indication «génétiquement modifié» (c).
