Référendum qui peut être soit facultatif, lorsqu'il s'agit de se prononcer sur des traités internationaux d'une durée indéterminée et non dénonçables ou qui contiennent des dispositions juridiques importantes, soit obligatoire, lorsque l'adhésion de la Suisse à certaines communautés supranationales ou à des organisations de sécurité collective est concernée.
