Der Begriff Konkordanz prägt in der Schweiz neben dem Bundesrat auch die übrigen politischen Gewalten und Organe. Alle wichtigen politischen Parteien werden jeweils in die konsensorientierte Entscheidungsfindung einbezogen. Gerade bei der Vergabe von politischen Ämtern sowie Führungspositionen in Verwaltung, Armee und Justiz bürgt das Prinzip der Konkordanz dafür, dass die Parteien im Verhältnis ihrer Stärke berücksichtigt werden.

En Suisse, l’idée de la concordance est centrale au Conseil fédéral, mais aussi dans les autres instances et organes politiques. Tous les partis importants sont systématiquement impliqués dans le processus décisionnel, basé sur le consensus. C’est notamment vrai pour l’attribution des fonctions politiques et des postes de direction au sein de l’administration, de l’armée et de la justice, où le principe de concordance garantit aux partis une représentation proportionnelle à leur poids dans la vie publique.

In Switzerland the term concordance characterises the Federal Council, as well as the other political powers and organs. All major political parties are included in the consensus-based decision-making process. The principle of concordance guarantees that the parties’ views are taken into consideration in proportion to their size, especially when it comes to the allocation of political offices and leadership positions in the administration, the armed forces and the judiciary.
