Inter-governmental body of countries and international organisations established in 1989 during the G7 Summit in Paris, whose role is to identify money laundering methods, to develop measures to combat money laundering and terrorist financing and to harmonise the money laundering policies at an international level through the formulation of minimum international standards.

Organismo intergovernamentale, di cui fanno parte i governi degli stati membri e organizzazioni internazionali, il cui compito consiste nell'individuare le tecniche di riciclaggio di denaro, nello sviluppare misure efficaci contro il riciclaggio ed il finanziamento del terrorismo, come pure nell'armonizzare a livello transnazionale la politica di lotta al riciclaggio attraverso la definizione di standard minimi internazionali.
