Die schweizerischen Hochseejachten dürfen ausschliesslich für die Sport- und Vergnügungsschifffahrt verwendet werden. Das Schweizerische Seeschifffahrtsamt ist zuständig für ihre Registrierung. Es stellt auch Flaggenbestätigungen für Kleinboote aus, die in ausländischen Binnengewässern und in Küstengewässern fahren.
