Funzione nelle rappresentanze all'estero che funge da interfaccia tra la piazza scientifica elvetica e la regione ospitante e promuove le relazioni bilaterali a livello politico, amministrativo e tra gli istituti di educazione e ricerca; osserva gli sviluppi politici nel campo della scienza, della tecnologia, dell'innovazione e delle scuole universitarie nella regione ospitante e ne riferisce agli uffici amministrativi competenti e ad altri ambienti interessati in Svizzera; diffonde informazioni sull'attualità della politica scientifica nella regione ospitante tramite newsletter, siti Internet e rapporti; sviluppa e consolida le reti di relazioni personali e istituzionali a beneficio degli scienziati, delle scuole universitarie e delle imprese elvetiche.
