Linguistic Context
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets which we are announcing today demonstrate the scale and ambition of this new universal Agenda. They seek to build on the Millennium Development Goals and complete what these did not achieve. They seek to realize the human rights of all and to achieve gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. They are integrated and indivisible and balance the three dimensions of sustainable development: the economic, social and environmental.
Term Note
L'emploi du mot « programme » prête à confusion étant donné qu'à la DDC ainsi que dans le domaine de la coopération internationale, ce dernier évoque les programmes de développement menés concrètement dans les pays. Il fait également penser à des entités comme le « Programme des Nations Unies pour le développement (PNUD) ». L'Agenda 2030 de développement durable est un agenda politique qui sert de nouveau cadre de référence pour les quinze prochaines années et doit faire office de ligne directrice pour les efforts en faveur du développement durable (efforts consentis non seulement par la coopération internationale au développement mais également par les différents organes des Nations Unies ou les programmes bilatéraux menés dans les pays).
