Diversi Stati e territori hanno chiesto alla Svizzera di avviare negoziati al fine di concludere un accordo sullo scambio di informazioni in materia fiscale (in inglese: Tax Information Exchange Agreement, TIEA). Nel mese di aprile del 2012 il Consiglio federale ha deciso di concludere questo tipo di accordi. Sinora la Svizzera ha concluso nove TIEA.
