Spurwechseltore sind für lange Hochgeschwindigkeits-Eisenbahntunnels ausgelegt und kommen in Tunnelzonen zum Einsatz, wo Züge von einer Röhre in die andere wechseln können. Geschlossen dienen Spurwechseltore zur aerodynamischen Trennung der beiden Röhren im Normalbetrieb oder im Ereignisfall, um eine Verrauchung der Gegenröhre zu verhindern. Offen erlauben sie die weitere - wenn auch eingeschränkte - Nutzung des Tunnels, wenn Teilabschnitte für Wartung oder wegen Pannen gesperrt sind.
