Die im Planzenschutz verwendeten Mittel – Insektizide, Acarizide, Fungizide, Herbizide – sind meist auf ihre Bienenungefährlichkeit geprüft. Bei Falscheinsatz kommt es jedoch immer wieder zu Bienenvergiftungen. Diese modernen Kontaktmittel wirken schnell, sodaß Trachtbienen häufig bereits im Feld verenden. Stockbienen erkennen darüber hinaus Bienen mit Giftfracht am Geruch oder Verhalten und lassen diese nicht durch das Flugloch.

In quattro casi è stata evidenziata l’intossicazione delle api ad opera di insetticidi: due di questi imputabili ai neonicotinoidi thiametoxame/clothiadine, uno a l’indoxacarbe (oziadiazine) e un caso alla permetrina (seconda generazione di piretroidi).
