At the Ambassadors and International Network Conference 2014 I invited all colleagues to think about a new designation for what we refer to as ‘safeguarding Switzerland‘s interests. [...] Indeed, it would be wrong to assume that our diplomatic activities only serve a higher interest that must be safeguarded, while our development aid colleagues, motivated by selfless altruism, actually engage in advancing our values.
