À l’heure actuelle en Suisse, de nombreuses recherches sont menées dans le domaine de la biotechnologie dans ce que l’on appelle des « milieux confinés ». Dans ce cadre, les OGM [organismes génétiquement modifiés], les OP [organismes pathogènes] ou les organismes exotiques envahissants ne doivent pas entrer en contact avec la population et l’environnement mais se cantonner aux laboratoires, unités de production et serres.
