​The aim of the National Research Programme "Formation and Employment" (NRP 43) is to research the relationship between education and employment. In particular, it will clarify how this interplay is shaped by professional organisations, new information and communication technologies, the organisation of the education sector and the world of work. Through interdisciplinary research, basic principles will be developed which will allow those responsible in education, politics, commerce and industry, companies and professional organisations to make lasting improvements to the employment situation in Switzerland by timely and appropriate measures.

Ziel des Nationalen Forschungsprogramms "Bildung und Beschäftigung" (NFP 43) Programms war es, die Zusammenhänge zwischen Bildung und Beschäftigung zu erforschen. Namentlich sollte geklärt werden, wie dieses Zusammenspiel durch die Berufsorganisationen, die neuen Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien, die Organisation von Bildungswesen und Arbeitswelt mitgestaltet wird. In interdisziplinärer Forschung wurden Grundlagen erarbeitet, die es den Verantwortlichen im Bildungswesen, in Politik, Wirtschaft, Unternehmen und Berufsorganisationen gestatten, mit zeitlich und sachlich angemessenen Massnahmen die Beschäftigungssituation in der Schweiz nachhaltig zu verbessern.

​Le Programme national de recherche "formation et emploi" (PNR 43) avait pour but de mettre en lumière les relations entre la "formation et l'emploi". En particulier, il a examiné le rôle que jouent les organisations professionnelles, les nouvelles technologies de l'information et de la communication, l'organisation du système de formation et du monde du travail dans la constitution de ces relations. Les projets interdisciplinaires ont contribué à créer les bases permettant aux responsables de la formation, de la politique, de l'économie, des entreprises et des organisations professionnelles de prendre des mesures adéquates servant à améliorer d'une manière soutenue la situation de l'emploi en Suisse.
