Con la tecnologia “terminator” e le tecnologie analoghe, gli organismi sono modificati in modo tale che l’espressione delle loro caratteristiche possa essere regolata e controllata dall’esterno. Gli obiettivi perseguiti da queste tecniche sono da un lato di evitare la riutilizzazione e la selezione non autorizzata delle sementi, e dall’altro di ridurre le probabilità di diffusione indesiderata nell’ambiente del patrimonio genetico modificato.
Mit der „Terminator“- und ähnlichen Technologien werden Organismen so verändert, dass die Expression von Eigenschaften von aussen reguliert und kontrolliert werden kann. Als damit verfolgte Ziele werden zum einen genannt, die Wiederverwendung und das unerlaubte Weiterzüchten des Saatgutes zu verhindern, und zum andern, die Wahrscheinlichkeit der unerwünschten Verbreitung des transgenen Erbgutes in der Umwelt zu verringern.
The “Terminator” and similar technologies modify organisms in such a way that the expression of traits can be regulated and controlled from outside. The goals of this include preventing the re-use and unauthorised repeated cropping of seed, and also reducing the possibility of the undesired spread of the transgenic genome in the environment.
