Term Note
EXP: Switzerland's skills development system includes both upper-secondary level vocational education and training (VET) and tertiary-level professional education. Outside of Switzerland, however, the skills development systems are less comprehensive (with the exception of Germany, Austria, Denmark and the Netherlands) and do not necessarily place emphasis on the combination of workplace training and classroom instruction (dual-track approach). For this reason, we find the term 'vocational education and training' or 'VET' used internationally in reference to the entire skills development system, not just upper-secondary level.
