EXP: neben den "Forschungsinfrastrukturen" und den "Forschungsinstitutionen" bilden die "Technologiekompetenzzentren" die dritte Kategorie der im Bereich der Forschungs- und Innovationsförderung des Bundes unterstützen ausseruniversitären Institutionen; in der Förderperiode 2013-2016 werden zwei Technologiekompetenzzentren unterstützt: das Centre suisse d’éléctronique et de microtechnique (Neuenburg) und die Inspire AG für mechatronische Produktionssysteme und Fertigungstechnik (Zürich)

EXP: in the Federal Council Dispatch on the Promotion of Education, Research and Innovation for 2013-2016, a total of twenty-six research facilities outside the higher education sector will receive federal funding over the current budgetary period; nine of these research facilities fall under the category of “research infrastructure”, fifteen research facilities fall under the category of “research institute”, while the remaining two research facilities fall under the category of “technology competence centres”: the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology CSEM in Neuchâtel and Inspire AG for mechatronic production systems and manufacturing in Zurich
