Scuola specializzata superiore che conferisce ai suoi allievi nozioni teoriche e pratiche d'ingegneria, comprendenti materie di matematica, scienze naturali e ingegneristiche o tecnica edile (architettura) e cultura generale e li prepara ad applicare autonomamente i risultati della scienza e della ricerca alla produzione e allo sviluppo industriali oppure ad altri settori specializzati.
