Das Nationale Forschungsprogramm "Landschaften und Lebensräume der Alpen" (NFP 48) hat den Auftrag, Ziel- und Handlungswissen für eine gesellschaftlich erwünschte, wirtschaftlich tragbare und politisch umsetzbare Landschaftsentwicklung zu erarbeiten. Endogene und exogene Kausalitäten der Landschaftsentwicklung sollen erkannt, Anforderungen und Normen für eine nachhaltige Landschaftsentwicklung in den Alpen erarbeitet und Handlungsmöglichkeiten in den relevanten Politik- und Handlungsfeldern aufgezeigt werden.

Le Programme national de recherche "Paysages et habitats de l'arc alpin" (PNR 48) a reçu la mission d'acquérir des connaissances relatives aux objectifs et stratégies en vue d'un développement du paysage correspondant à la demande sociale, économiquement viable et politiquement réalisable. Les résultats de recherche attendus se focalisent sur les trois axes suivants: Causes endogènes et exogènes de l'évolution du paysage ; exigences et normes pour un développement durable du paysage et possibilités d'action dans les domaines pertinents de la politique et de l'action.
